Texas High School Football (6A): ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐จ๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ฒ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฌ. Hebron (2025)
The Denton Guyer Wildcats delivered a relentless and balanced attack on Thursday night, overwhelming the Hebron Hawks for a convincing 44-16 victory at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex. The win preserved Guyer's perfect record in District 5-6A play, showcasing a dominant second half that sealed their third consecutive victory. Hawks Fight Back, Briefly Take the Lead The game started with the Guyer defense providing the spark. Linebacker Paxton Williams recovered a fumble and returned it 37 yards for a defensive touchdown, giving the Wildcats an early 6-0 lead after the extra point was blocked. Hebron responded with grit, finding the end zone to take a brief 7-6 lead in the first quarter, injecting some early drama into the contest. However, a 36-yard field goal from Guyer's Andrew Johnson and a short rushing touchdown by Kaedyn Cobbs put the Wildcats back on top, 15-7. The Hawks remained tenacious, with quarterback Brady Brock connecting on a touchdown pass to Tyler Hoke late in the second quarter, pulling the score to 15-13 (two-point conversion failed). The Wildcats countered swiftly just before the half, as quarterback Zephyr Kreye found a wide-open Tristan Shelton for a 28-yard touchdown pass, making the halftime score 22-16 after a final field goal by Guyer. The Second Half Wildcat Stampede The Wildcats' defenseโa consistent source of strengthโblew the game open after the break. Early in the third quarter, Paxton Williams struck again, scoring a pivotal touchdown on a second fumble recovery that pushed the score to 30-16 after a successful two-point conversion. This defensive score completely crushed the Hawks' momentum and began the second-half rout. Guyer's balanced attack was too much for Hebron to handle over four quarters. Corbin Glasco enjoyed a career night, pulling in a 36-yard touchdown reception from Kreye in the fourth quarter to cap his performance, finishing with a game-high 97 receiving yards and a touchdown. Running back Kaedyn Cobbs led the ground effort with 83 rushing yards and a score. The defense was suffocating, forcing turnovers and holding Hebron to zero points in the second half. Safety Owen Whistler contributed ten total tackles and had one of the Wildcats' two interceptions, the other coming from Baylin Middleton. Denton Guyer improved their overall record to 4-2 and remained undefeated in District 5-6A. Hebron (2-4 overall) showed early fight but ultimately could not contend with the Wildcat's depth and second-half surge.
