Cobbs finished the game with an astonishing 245 rushing yards and three touchdowns, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. The Wildcat defense was relentless, sacking the Marcus quarterback 4.5 times and ultimately forcing the starting quarterback Colton Nussmeier out of the game with an injury. Guyer's Late Push Falls Short Denton Guyer showed life in the second half, led by its playmakers. Running back Kaedyn Cobbs ignited the Wildcat sideline with a 36-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter to make the score 14-7. In the fourth quarter, Guyer's quarterback Zephyr Kreye delivered a spectacular pass to Carter Morgan, who broke free for a 49-yard touchdown reception, pulling Guyer within one score at 21-14.
For the first time in school history, the boys basketball state championship is coming home to Guyer High School. The Wildcats put the finishing touches on a storybook campaign on Saturday night at the Alamodome, beating Katy Jordan High School 48-47 to win the Class 6A Division II state title.
Guyer (9-3) went into the contest looking to build on its momentum after beating McKinney last week in Round 1 of the playoffs, and the Wildcats were able to do just that against Pearce (9-3). Guyer advances to play the winner of Saturday’s game between Midland (8-3) and Crowley (7-4) in next week’s regional semifinal round of the 6A Division II playoffs.

Coppell faced Guyer in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Coppell Cowboys came out on top against the Guyer Wildcats by a score of 31-24. The Cowboys' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season. It was another big night for Kevin Sperry, who threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Sterling Schneider, who rushed for 152 yards while picking up 8.0 yards per carry.
After a program-defining win over defending Class 6A Division I state champion DeSoto, North Crowley head coach Ray Gates laid out a trap for his team to see. Several messages, including “NORTH CROWLEY IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE STATE” and “DON’T TAKE THE BAIT,” were inside the trap. “This week was the ultimate trap game,” Gates said.
Arlington Martin jumped on No. 21-ranked Guyer early, but the Wildcats rallied Friday to earn a 38-19 win in the 6A squads’ nondistrict showdown.
The Bearcats had a chance to score a go-ahead touchdown in the final drive of the game but couldn’t overcome the draining clock. Aledo suffered it’s first loss since Sept. 2, 2022, when Denton Guyer defeated the Bearcats 44-14.
Built in 2005, Denton Guyer has reached the UIL State Championship five times, winning two of those matchups. The program has come a long way from its humble beginnings. That clock continues to count down to their 2024 season opener versus the twelve-time state champion Aledo Bearcats.

Accountability is what our program is about,” Caldwell said. “We call ourselves our own sorority, our own network of 4 for 40. They play with us for four or five years and it's the 40-year relationships that we cherish.”
