Texas High School Football (6A): Denton Guyer Vs. Dallas Jesuit (Area Championship)
Denton Guyer Dominates Dallas Jesuit, Advances to Regional Round: The Denton Guyer Wildcats left no doubt about their playoff intentions Friday night, delivering a powerful 44-14 victory over the Dallas Jesuit Rangers in the UIL 6A Division 2 Area Championship at Joy and Ralph Ellis Stadium. The win improves the Wildcats’ record to 10-2 and sends them to the Regional Semifinals (third round) for a highly anticipated showdown with Trophy Club Byron Nelson. Early Flurry Seals Jesuit's Fate From the opening whistle, Guyer's offense was dynamic and their defense suffocating. The Wildcats built an insurmountable 44-0 lead before the Rangers finally found the end zone late in the third quarter. By that point, the outcome was academic. Guyer finished the night with 450 total yards of offense, nearly doubling Jesuit's 234. Sophomore quarterback Carter Morgan managed the offense masterfully, showing poise and efficiency. Morgan completed 11 of his 13 pass attempts for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He also showcased his dual-threat ability, breaking free for a 36-yard rushing touchdown. "Our focus was on starting fast and executing our game plan, and the guys did that perfectly tonight," said Guyer Head Coach. "Carter [Morgan] played like a veteran, and our offensive line gave him all the time he needed." Ground Game Provides Punch While Morgan was stellar through the air, the Wildcats’ running game provided the punishing blow. Illinois commit Kaedyn Cobbs led the rushing attack, churning out approximately 90 yards and punching in two critical touchdowns. The effective ground attack allowed Guyer to control the clock and keep the Jesuit defense on the field.
