Texas High School Football (6A): Denton Guyer Vs. Prosper - Rock Hill (Bi-District Championship)
Guyer Shuts Out Rock Hill in Bi-District Rout: DENTON, TX – The Denton Guyer Wildcats flexed their defensive muscle in the opening round of the UIL 6A Division II playoffs, delivering a decisive 40-0 shutout victory over the Prosper Rock Hill Blue Hawks on Friday, November 14, 2025. The bi-district matchup, played at Guyer's home field, was a showcase of the Wildcats' dominance, as they held the Blue Hawks' offense in check for all four quarters while capitalizing on early turnovers to establish a commanding lead they never relinquished. Quick Start, Total Control: Guyer (9-2) wasted no time seizing the momentum. The game's tone was set immediately when Prosper Rock Hill's opening possession ended disastrously with a botched punt snap, resulting in a safety for the Wildcats. On the ensuing Rock Hill series, the Guyer defense struck again. Cornerback Paxton Williams jumped a route, snagging an interception and racing 84 yards for a pick-six, putting Guyer up 12-0 early in the first quarter. The Wildcats' ground game took over from there, spearheaded by running back Kaedyn Cobbs, who punched in two short rushing touchdowns (7 and 5 yards) in the second quarter. These scores helped Guyer build a commanding 26-0 halftime lead. Defensive back Zane Rowe also added a crucial interception before the break, highlighting a stellar defensive performance. Rock Solid Defense: The Guyer defense was the story of the night, completely stifling the Rock Hill attack. The Blue Hawks (5-5) were held to just 138 total yards and a mere –12 yards rushing for the entire contest, struggling to find any consistency against the Wildcats' relentless pressure. The defense forced three total turnovers, including a third interception in the second half by Owen Whistler. Martens Seals the Deal: Running back Aiden Martens ensured there would be no second-half comeback, breaking loose for a massive 63-yard touchdown run to open the third quarter, pushing the lead to 33-0. Martens finished the night strong, tallying 114 yards and a touchdown on the ground, complementing Cobbs' three scores. The decisive 40-0 victory advances the Denton Guyer Wildcats to the Area Round of the UIL 6A DII playoffs, where they will face the Dallas Jesuit Rangers.
