Texas High School Football (6A): 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐮𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐬. Marcus (2025)

The Denton Guyer Wildcats delivered a punishing second-half surge, turning a tight contest into a dominant rout by crushing the Flower Mound Marcus Marauders 52-21 on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Guyer's offense was powered by a monumental effort from their star running back, extending the Wildcats' district winning streak and solidifying their position at the top of District 5-6A. A Back-and-Forth First Half The district rivalry game, played at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex, started as a competitive battle. Guyer struck first with a 51-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zephyr Kreye to Tristan Shelton, but Marcus answered quickly after recovering a Guyer fumble deep in Wildcat territory, tying the score at 7-7. The lead changed hands several times in the first half. Marcus briefly took their only lead of the night at 14-10 after a 3-yard run by Kade McKnight. However, Guyer answered with a pair of touchdowns from Kaedyn Cobbs, including a spectacular 66-yard breakaway run, to take a 24-14 lead. Marcus found the end zone one last time before the break, pulling within three points at 24-21 at halftime. Wildcats Unleash the Fury The second half belonged entirely to Denton Guyer. The Wildcats outscored the Marauders 28-0 after the break, displaying their championship-level depth and physicality. The turning point came early in the third quarter when the Guyer defense forced a turnover. Army commit Caleb Fowler recovered a fumble and returned it 35 yards for a defensive touchdown , giving the Wildcats a crucial 31-21 lead that broke Marcus's momentum. Cobbs and the Defense Dominate Illinois commit Kaedyn Cobbs continued his stellar night, breaking off a 36-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to complete his hat trick and push the score to 38-21. Cobbs finished the game with an astonishing 245 rushing yards and three touchdowns, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. The Wildcat defense was relentless, sacking the Marcus quarterback 4.5 times and ultimately forcing the starting quarterback Colton Nussmeier out of the game with an injury. The defensive pressure, combined with scores from running back Aiden Martens and a final touchdown from Anthony Vizcaya Jr., secured the decisive 52-21 victory.
